Mystery fabric from the thrift store? I have a solution for that! A fabric burn test. By burning a sample of your fabric you will examine the burning process, smells and ultimately residue to decipher your fabric composition!
Your own familiarity and experiments with fabric burn tests will give you more information but here are the basics! Remember to be safe! (I typically take a small snippet of fabric and hold it with long tweezers and light it in a safe place). I take more notice of the residue than the smells etc as that can be a lot to notice when things are on fire.
